Mammoth

So this last weekend we went to Mammoth Springs in Wyhoming with my parents and my sister and her family. Let me tell ya... There's not much to do there haha.

                     Except this

                         And this

We call it "Elk Days". A bunch of elk come up to this small area and just hang out and chill. It's pretty cool
Actually. We stayed in these little cabins and every morning we would wake up to elk basically chilling on our porch.

And they weren't really scared of us... Weird.

Here's the thing I don't get... Bull elk actually heard the females. Like literally "heard" them. If a female was walking away from the heard the bull elk gets pissed and goes to round her up again. (I wouldn't put up with that if I were them...)

And there's rangers everywhere directing traffic cause people come from all over just to see these heards of elk. There was One bull elk to every 10-15 cow elk about. The rangers won't let you get too close to the elk...

So after dark my dad, brother in law, and husband decide to go looking for the bull elk cause the rangers had gone to bed. (This elk was really aggressive... Charging vehicles that would drive by)

Anywho... They found him and nearly died because it came charging after them. They felt pretty cool to live to tell the tale.

Mammoth is about an hour away from Old Faithful. So there were lots of mud lots and steam pots around the area.

About a mile away from us was a river and then another river that ran into it called "boiling river". The water was actually so hot it was boiling. But when the boiling river combined with the freezing cold river it was like sitting in a hot tub. Very cozy.

It was a lot of fun. Very relaxing. We plan going again next year. Calvin lived it of course because we were outside allll the time. We also stopped in West Yellowstone to get some pizza and candy :) such a fun weekend with my fam and especially getting to see Tyler more since he works nights and sleeps during the day. Such a hard worker that guy if mine is. Love him.

Anywho. Hope everyone's doing good! Here are a couple random picks from the rest of our weekend.

6

Calvin turned 6 months on the 1st of this month! I can't believe it. My baby is half a year old.

At 6 months Calvin is sitting up perfectly and can catch himself when he's about to fall over. Impeccable balance he has. He is crawling alllll over the place and getting into everything! The gate to the stairs had to come up to give me a little sanity. He loves to be outside: mowing the lawn (though he usually just falls asleep) , four wheeler rides, playing on the grass, going for jogs with me in the stroller, you name it. He is constantly eating. He eats about every hour and a half (we feed him less amounts more often to help keep his food down. He is definitely a spitter upper!) unless he's outside, then he forgets about everything all together including his hunger. He's also a social eater i've decided. He is eating rice cereal and baby food every night before bed. He loves to play peek a boo. He enjoys bath time whenever the opportunity strikes (which is sometimes more than once a day lets be honest). He is pretty much happy go lucky all day unless he's hungry or tired. He naps about 4-6 times a day anywhere from 1-2 hours.

We are so lucky to be the parents of this babe. No one can melt my heart faster than he can. 6 months has been my favorite age so far I think! He definitely has a personality! Haha. Happy 6 months Baby Cal! ❤

In other news...

We have had a lot of fun the last few weeks with family outings. Calvin lived the fair especially. He is definitely a people person, a trait he got from his daddy undoubtedly.

           (At the fair with Grandpa)

We also went on hike last week with our friends Tyeson and Chelsea Mitton. It was a lot of fun and, again, Calvin loved being outside. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when winter hits and I can't take him outside all the time. Not looking forward to it.

Hope everyone is lovin' life as much as we are! ❤

The proposal ❤

Here's our engagement story as promised :)

April 2, 2010 - It was conference weekend in Salt Lake City and we were spending the weekend there with my family. This was the first time Tyler had come with us. We usually stay at the Little America Hotel, shop, swim, and go see the temple at night all lit up.

It was Friday night and we were at dinner with my family. At dinner my dad mentioned that he probably wasn't going to be going with to see the temple and that Tyler and I had better go alone. (Nice cover right? ;)

Now, I knew Tyler was gonna propose soon. We picked out the ring together. I knew he had it. I was just waiting for it to happen.

We get on the Sandy train and headed for Temple Square. It's 10:00. Tyler walks me over to the fountain on the south side of the temple and we sit on the side of it and chit chat for a minute. Then he pulls out this black book from inside his cost and starts reading it to me.

On each page of this book is a charm to go on a bracelet that's on the first page of the book and a little saying to go along each one. For example: a heart charm to represent Tyler's love for me, a temple to represent the Eternal love we share each other and the place where we can be sealed together forever with our family...etc.

It was the cutest thing ever. After he read each page he'd take the charm off and attach it to the bracelet.

So there's only one page left, and what do ya know a guard comes over to us and says "it's 10:30 and we are locking the gates. You guys need to leave." Tyler says, well, almost begged to the guard "please just 5 more minutes and then we will leave." (At this point I had a pretty good idea what was on that last page ;)

Tyler turns the page and there it is. My sparkling ring. The caption read something along these lines; "our love is like this ring, perfect and never ending."

(Ps. This is not the ring he proposed with. It had a few issues so we took it back and got this lovely and few days after. )

He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. And I said through tears if pure joy, yes! :)

We looked up and the guard and a few other people were clapping and congratulating us. It was so perfect and my heart was so full of joy. ❤

Unfortunately the photos we took at temple square that night are on Tyler's camera so I can't share them :( but ill share a few of our engagements since we are so cute :)

Next post to come will be our lovely wedding day!! Stay tuned!! ❤

I do... I mean yes. Part 1.

So here's a little love story / time line of Tyler an I.

Ps. People, the MAIN reason I decided to do a blog is for me to be able to journal my life experiences and to be able to look back on them. So far I haven't been too great at it. Hopefully I can become better soon :)

January 2007- Im walking the halls after church with Jessie Herrud and I see this tall young man giving hugs to everyone in his sight. Jessie gives him a hug (only she's actually pretty good friends with him) and then he asks if he can give me a hug. I recognized him; we were in the same steak and i remember him playing basketball in High School. i knew his name was Tyler Mckee but this was the first he had ever said a word to me. For some reason I remember I'm wearing my polka dot red dress and red heels. Little did I know he would become my husband in 3 years.

March 2009 - I'm hanging out with Chelsea Davies at her sisters house and a few others. Tyler was there. I didn't think he would remember who I was. We had a lot if fun though that night and after everyone left Chelsea said "I think Tyler likes you." Secretly... I hoped so. :)

              (Picture from that night)

May 2009 - We "officially" started dating. May 25th to be exact. I knew he would be leaving for school in September, but we couldn't stay away from each other as much as we tried. So we figured what the heck lets give it a try.

(Soon after we started dating ❤)

We had a few bumps in the road... A couple for some would be deal breakers, but we were in love. And for whatever reason they only brought us closer.

April 2nd, 2010 - Tyler proposed. This story deserves its own blog post :)

❤ More to come soon! ❤
